Kano Commissioner Calls on Deputy Governor to Resign

The Kano State Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, has publicly called on Deputy Governor Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo to resign from his position. The call comes amid political realignments following Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s defection from the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Waiya stated that the Deputy Governor’s refusal to align with the governor’s political direction necessitated his resignation, urging elected officials to either work in harmony with the administration or step aside. The call follows similar movements by other commissioners and senior appointees who have shifted loyalty to the APC in recent days.

Political analysts say the situation reflects the growing tensions within the state government as the administration navigates party realignment, with key appointees and officials gradually adjusting to the new political landscape.
