Governor Abba Yusuf of Kano State is set to defect from the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC) today, a member of the state executive council confirmed to jocomms.com.
The APC is reportedly preparing to receive the governor and his supporters, with sources saying Governor Yusuf has concluded consultations with the electorate and key stakeholders ahead of the move.
The defection, originally scheduled for January 5, was postponed to allow additional consultations, particularly with Kano’s National Assembly lawmakers, to secure wider support for the transition.
“Yes, of course, the governor is joining APC today (Monday) with all his NNPP supporters,” a state commissioner confirmed.
The immediate past governor of Kano State and former APC National Chairman, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, returned to Nigeria from Dubai on Sunday to participate in the ceremony.
