Kano Varsity Expels 34 Students, Rusticates 13 for Exam Malpractice

The Aliko Dangote University of Science and Technology (ADUST), Wudil in Kano State has expelled 34 students and rusticated 13 others for one academic session over their involvement in examination malpractice during the 2024/2025 first semester examinations.

This is disclosed in a statement issued by its Head of Information, Publications and Public Relations Unit, Abdullahi Datti, and made available to Saturday.

According to the statement, the disciplinary actions follow the approval of the report of the Examinations Regulations and Irregularities Committee by the university senate at its 123rd meeting held on October 9, 2025.

Nine other students were issued formal warnings for minor infractions according yo the statement . The Senate’s decision, Datti said, reflected the university’s zero tolerance for examination misconduct and its resolve to uphold academic integrity and discipline.

In a distinct development, the university announced the establishment of a Centre for Equipment Maintenance to strengthen the management and functionality of its academic and research infrastructure.

The centre is expected to implement preventive maintenance schedules, handle repairs of faulty tools, and train both staff and students on proper equipment use and maintenance procedures.

The university said the initiative aligns with its broader commitment to improving academic standards and sustaining research efficiency through better resource management.
