Pop sensation Katy Perry and actor Orlando Bloom have confirmed their split, marking the end of a high-profile relationship that has captivated fans since they first became romantically linked in 2016. The couple, who share a four-year-old daughter, Daisy Dove, made the announcement through a joint statement to US media outlets.
The statement, released due to the “abundance of recent interest and conversation” surrounding their relationship, revealed that Perry, 40, and Bloom, 48, had been gradually adjusting their relationship dynamics over the past several months, shifting their focus to co-parenting.
“They will continue to be seen together as a family, as their shared priority is—and always will be—raising their daughter with love, stability, and mutual respect,” the statement read.
While their relationship has faced challenges, including a brief split in 2017, Perry and Bloom seemed to have reconciled and got engaged in 2019, with Bloom proposing on Valentine’s Day. Their daughter, Daisy Dove, was born in August of the same year, and the news was shared by Unicef, as both Perry and Bloom are goodwill ambassadors for the organisation.
The announcement follows a tough period for Perry, whose latest album, 143, and the accompanying single “Woman’s World,” have not garnered the same level of acclaim as her past releases. Perry is currently on tour, but her ticket sales have reportedly been slower compared to previous years.
Adding to her challenges, Perry and other female celebrities faced a wave of backlash following their April Blue Origin space trip. Perry admitted that the experience left her “battered and bruised,” reflecting the difficult period she has endured.
Previously married to comedian Russell Brand, Perry made her breakthrough in 2008 with the chart-topping hit “I Kissed A Girl,” and has since become known for hits like “Roar,” “California Gurls,” “Firework,” and “Never Really Over.”
Orlando Bloom, who was previously married to Australian supermodel Miranda Kerr, with whom he shares a son, 14-year-old Flynn, is best known for his roles in Pirates of the Caribbean, The Lord of the Rings, and The Hobbit.
