The Kebbi State Government has finalized arrangements to sponsor the mass wedding of 600 individuals—300 grooms and 300 brides—by covering a dowry payment of ₦180,000 per couple.
Speaking to journalists in Birnin Kebbi on Sunday, the Chairman of the Mass Wedding Committee, Suleman Argungu, announced that screening committees have been established to ensure all selected couples meet the necessary criteria.
Argungu explained that the screening process will include pre-marital health checks and an evaluation of the groom’s employment or trade status to confirm his ability to support his wife.
He added that the initiative is designed to assist orphans, widows, and individuals with special needs, regardless of their tribe or religious affiliation.
