The Kebbi State government has announced the approval of ₦650 million for the procurement and installation of a 15 MVA power transformer, aimed at tackling persistent electricity outages across the state.
The announcement was made in Birnin Kebbi by Alhaji Yakubu Bala‑Tafida, the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), who stated that the project forms part of the administration’s ongoing efforts to improve power supply for homes, businesses, and public institutions.
Governor Nasir Idris highlighted that while electricity distribution falls under the responsibility of the Kaduna Electricity Distribution Company (KAEDCO), the state government is actively supporting initiatives to ensure a more reliable supply.
Reports indicate that the state currently contributes about ₦150 million monthly to KAEDCO to enhance electricity services. The new transformer is expected to ease power shortages, strengthen the local electricity network, and improve overall quality of life for residents.
Community leaders and residents have expressed optimism that the project will reduce business disruptions, enhance daily living, and foster economic growth in Kebbi State. Visit www.jocomms.com for more news.
