The Federal Government hired Messers NAEBI Dynamic Concept Ltd as consultants to collect helicopter landing levies at aerodromes, helipads, and airstrips. Following a meeting with the Executives of Airline Operators of Nigeria, Festus Keyamo, the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, temporarily suspended these rights.
This was revealed in a statement released on Friday in Abuja and signed by Odutayo Oluseyi, Head of Press, who stated that the suspension began on May 30, 2024.
According to Reports, the industry stakeholders’ complaints about the cost led to this development.
In response, Keyamo established a committee including representatives from Messers NAEBI Dynamic Concept Ltd., Airline Operators of Nigeria, International Oil Companies, and the Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development and its affiliated agencies.
This committee has been tasked with addressing the concerns raised by stakeholders and is to submit a report by the end of June 2024.
“Messers NAEBI Dynamic Concept Ltd was granted the exclusive right by the Federal Government as consultants to collect such levies, which stakeholders have expressed their reservations on the appropriateness of the levies.
“The recommendation(s) of the Committee would proffer a way forward,” the statement partly read.
