Reality star and business mogul Kim Kardashian has opened up about her emotional struggles following her divorce from rapper Kanye West, revealing that she felt as though she had “Stockholm syndrome” during their relationship. Speaking in the season seven premiere of The Kardashians, Kim reflected on how she often felt compelled to defend and protect West despite his unpredictable behavior in the years leading up to and following their split.

Kardashian, who divorced West in 2021 after seven years of marriage, admitted she “always felt really bad and always protected and always wanted to help” him, describing the process as emotionally exhausting. She emphasized that she has now learned to set boundaries, saying, “It’s a divorce, not a kidnapping,” as she continues to prioritize her peace and personal growth.

Kim and Kanye, who married in 2014, share four children — North, 12, Saint, 9, Chicago, 7, and Psalm, 6. Despite their turbulent relationship, Kardashian has frequently expressed her wish for a healthy co-parenting relationship, even as both continue to navigate life in the public eye.
