Former Governor of Kano State and 2023 NNPP Presidential Candidate, Senator Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso, has expressed concern over recent statements by former US President Donald Trump following the designation of Nigeria as a “country of particular concern.”
Kwankwaso described Trump’s remarks as worrisome, noting that Nigeria remains a sovereign nation dealing with complex security challenges that affect all citizens, regardless of religion, ethnicity, or political affiliation. He emphasised that insecurity in the country does not discriminate, and therefore requires constructive international support, not divisive rhetoric.
He urged the United States to assist Nigeria with advanced technology and intelligence-sharing capabilities to address its security problems rather than issuing threats that could further polarise the nation. Kwankwaso called on the Nigerian government to appoint special envoys and permanent ambassadors to engage with the US and protect Nigeria’s interests on the global stage.
Addressing Nigerians, Kwankwaso appealed for unity, stressing that this is a crucial moment to prioritise national cohesion over division. “God bless Nigeria,” he concluded.
