Kylian Mbappé has officially withdrawn his complaint of moral harassment against former club Paris Saint-Germain, his lawyer Pierre-Olivier Sur told AFP on Monday.
“We are withdrawing our civil action,” Sur stated, just days before Mbappé’s current club, Real Madrid, faces PSG in the Club World Cup semi-final on Wednesday.
The Paris prosecutor’s office had opened an investigation last month after Mbappé filed a complaint regarding his treatment by PSG at the start of the 2023–24 season. The French star alleged that he was excluded from first-team activities and made to train with players the club intended to offload, after refusing to extend his contract. The practice, criticized by many in the football world, had previously led the French players’ union to file its own complaint.
Mbappé was notably left out of PSG’s 2023 pre-season tour of Asia and missed the opening match of the league campaign, though he was eventually reintegrated into the squad following discussions with club officials.
The 26-year-old left PSG for Real Madrid last summer after scoring 256 goals in 308 appearances across seven seasons. Ironically, PSG went on to win their first-ever UEFA Champions League title following his departure.
Despite dropping the harassment complaint, Mbappé remains in a legal dispute with PSG over €55 million in allegedly unpaid wages and bonuses.
