The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State has formally endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term in office, setting the tone for early mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general election.

The endorsement came during a historic stakeholders’ meeting held at the Eko Hotel, Victoria Island, which brought together top political leaders, including Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, former governors Babatunde Raji Fashola and Akinwunmi Ambode, Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat, and other prominent figures across the state’s five divisions.

The motion for the endorsement was moved by the Ayangburen of Ikorodu, Oba Kabiru Shotobi, and seconded by the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa. Both leaders praised the President’s performance over the past two years, saying Nigeria deserves progressive continuity under his leadership.

Governor Sanwo-Olu described President Tinubu as a leader who has fulfilled many of his campaign promises, urging party members to rally behind him for another term. “By unanimous decision taken by all representatives of stakeholders here today, we endorse President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to run for a second term,” the governor declared.

Party elders, ministers, and legislators in attendance echoed similar sentiments. Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr. Wale Edun; Minister of State for Education, Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa; and Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Dr. Jumoke Oduwole, presented scorecards highlighting the administration’s achievements in economic reform, education, and industrial growth.

Senator Tokunbo Abiru, speaking on behalf of the National Assembly Caucus, said Lagos remains the cradle of progressive politics. He praised President Tinubu’s record of transformation in Lagos and his ongoing reforms at the national level, affirming that “Lagos stands firmly with him.”

APC National Secretary, Senator Ajibola Basiru, representing the National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, stressed the importance of voter registration and turnout, urging the party to translate its unity and popularity into electoral victory.

Former Governor Babatunde Fashola, in a presentation on voter participation, emphasised the need to tackle voter apathy. He noted that the declining turnout in recent elections calls for introspection and stronger connection with the electorate. “Renewed Hope should generate renewed enthusiasm,” he said.

Party Chairman, Cornelius Ojelabi, announced incentives for voter mobilisation, promising ₦1 million for the polling unit, ₦5 million for the ward, and ₦20 million for the local government with the highest number of registered voters.

The meeting, attended by members of the Governance Advisory Council (GAC), local government chairmen, and traditional rulers, reaffirmed Lagos APC’s unity and its commitment to sustaining the legacy of progressive governance under President Tinubu’s leadership.
