Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has announced a ₦100 million commitment, two utility vehicles, and four 2-bedroom apartments to support the Nigerian Legion in the state as part of preparations for the 2026 Armed Forces Remembrance Day.
The announcement was made yesterday during the State Executive Council meeting, which received representatives of the Lagos Chapter of the Nigerian Legion to officially kick off the year’s remembrance activities.
Governor Sanwo-Olu emphasized the importance of acknowledging the contributions of veterans, saying their sacrifices have ensured Nigeria’s sovereignty. He added that the support package, which also includes food and other supplies, is intended to provide tangible assistance to members of the Legion, including those who returned with life-changing injuries.
“The Emblem Appeal is a responsibility we owe to those who laid down their lives for Nigeria and to those who returned with life-changing injuries. We must remember them in real and tangible ways,” the governor said.
The governor described the initiative as a demonstration of Lagos State’s gratitude for the bravery and service of its veterans, ensuring that their sacrifices for a free and united country are duly recognized.
