Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to expanding access to clean and reliable water across communities in the state.
Speaking at the commissioning of the Akilo 1.0 million gallons per day (MGD) micro water project, the Governor said the government is working “on a neighbourhood-by-neighbourhood basis” to change the narrative around adequate water supply in Lagos.
Sanwo-Olu noted that projects like the Akilo micro water scheme represent practical steps toward meeting the growing demand for potable water, improving public health, and strengthening infrastructure in underserved areas.
The newly commissioned facility is expected to boost water distribution, enhance service coverage, and contribute to the state’s broader plan to modernise its water provision system.
