Lagos Reaffirms Commitment to Curbing Underage Gambling

The Lagos State government has reinforced its zero-tolerance stance on underage gambling, emphasizing its unwavering commitment to protecting minors from the risks associated with gaming.

The Lagos State Lotteries and Gaming Authority (LSLGA) made this declaration during a press conference with key stakeholders in the gaming industry, underscoring the state’s proactive measures to regulate the sector.

The Chief Executive Officer of LSLGA and Chairman of the Federation of State Gaming Regulators of Nigeria, Mr. Basil Are, reiterated that combating underage gambling remains a top priority for both the authority and the Lagos State Government.

“Our focus is to ensure that minors are protected from the dangers of gambling. We will continue to enforce strict regulations to safeguard young people and uphold the integrity of the gaming industry,” Are stated.

Additionally, he highlighted the forthcoming Africa Gaming Expo (AGE) Lagos 2025, scheduled for February 25 to 27 at the Eko Convention Centre, Eko Hotels and Suites. The expo is expected to bring together industry experts, regulatory bodies, and key stakeholders to discuss best practices and the future of responsible gaming in Nigeria.

The Lagos State government continues to implement stringent measures to ensure compliance with gaming laws, emphasizing responsible gambling and public awareness campaigns to educate both operators and the public about the risks of underage participation in gambling activities.
