HM Wale Edun, presided over a pivotal meeting of the Presidential Initiative for Unlocking the Healthcare Value Chain (PVAC) today. The initiative, spearheaded by the Coordinating Minister of Health, Professor Muhammad Ali Pate, seeks to strengthen Nigeria’s healthcare sector through local production of critical medical goods, including pharmaceuticals, mosquito nets, and test kits.

By focusing on high-demand, low-value items, the program aims to reduce reliance on imports, stimulate job creation, and enhance access to affordable healthcare products. The initiative is also expected to boost Nigeria’s GDP by leveraging the healthcare sector’s potential.

Minister Edun highlighted Nigeria’s improved macroeconomic environment as a key enabler for attracting global partnerships and driving foreign and domestic investments into the healthcare value chain. He emphasized that the initiative supports President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s vision to lift millions out of poverty through economic growth and improved living standards.

The programme’s far-reaching goals include enhanced healthcare governance, increased accessibility to affordable medical products, and positioning healthcare as a major driver of economic growth in Nigeria.
