
Nine demonstrators were taken into custody by the Borno police for reportedly flying Russian flags in Maiduguri.
This was disclosed on Tuesday by Police Commissioner Yusuf Lawal in Maiduguri during a situation report. He claimed that on Monday, the suspects were taken into custody in Maiduguri’s Gwange Ward’s Zannari Tamsu neighborhood.
According to Mr. Lawal, the people who were taken into custody were residents of the Zannari Tamsu region and included Khalafi Abdulhamid, Mohammed Abubakar, Mohamed Ibrahim, and Abba Hassan.
“Additionally, five more protesters were apprehended in the Bulumkutu area of Maiduguri, carrying Russian flags.
“The suspects, Bashir Ahmad, Musa Lawan, Abba Mallam, Habibu Auwal, and Inusa Abdullahi, were transferred to the Crack Squad for discreet investigation and diligent prosecution,” he added
In order to maintain public safety, the police chief indicated that the situation had stayed calm and that they would keep an eye on and patrol the area.
