Former Rivers State Governor and Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has accused Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, of deliberately destabilising the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for personal political interests.
Wike alleged that Makinde’s actions and political maneuvers have worsened internal divisions within the party, weakening its unity and electoral strength ahead of future contests. According to him, instead of focusing on rebuilding and strengthening the PDP, Makinde has chosen to pursue personal ambition at the expense of collective party interests.
He further argued that the ongoing crisis within the PDP is not accidental but the result of calculated moves by some leaders who place self-interest above party loyalty and discipline. Wike warned that such actions could endanger the party’s survival and undermine its position as a credible opposition in Nigeria’s democracy.
The former governor called on PDP leaders and stakeholders to prioritise reconciliation, internal democracy, and unity, stressing that the party’s future depends on collective responsibility rather than individual political calculations.
