Manchester City turned on the style at the Etihad as they thrashed Burnley 5–1, with a devastating second-half display sealing the points.

City got off to a strange start when Maxime Estève’s own goal handed them an early lead, but Burnley hit back through Quentin Hartman to level the match before the break. The first half was scrappy, with City struggling to find their rhythm against a brave Burnley side.

Pep Guardiola’s men emerged transformed after the restart. Matheus Nunes and Oscar Bobb struck in quick succession to restore control, before Nathan Aké and Phil Foden extended the lead in ruthless fashion. Late on, Erling Haaland put the icing on the cake with a clinical brace, crushing any hope of a Burnley comeback.

Burnley showed flashes of promise but were ultimately overpowered by City’s relentless wave of attacks. The champions reminded the league why they remain the team to beat, delivering yet another emphatic statement in the title race.
