Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes has been told by manager Ruben Amorim that he is “not going anywhere,” dismissing recent speculation linking the Portuguese star with a move to Real Madrid.
Fernandes, 30, who joined from Sporting Lisbon in 2020 and has since scored 95 goals in 277 appearances, is under contract at Old Trafford until 2027. Despite reports of a potential £90 million (107.4 million euros) transfer to the Spanish giants, Amorim made his stance clear: “No, it’s not going to happen.”
Amorim emphasized his desire to keep Fernandes at the club, highlighting the midfielder’s pivotal role, especially during challenging periods of the season. “I want Bruno here because maybe in the lowest moments of our season he impressed. We want to win the Premier League again, so we want the best players to continue with us,” he said.
The manager further noted that Fernandes, despite being 29 by some measures, remains incredibly vital to the team, playing 55 games per season and contributing both goals and assists. “Between assists and goals, he’s there for 30 at least, so he’s the type of player we want here. We are in control of the situation and I feel that he is really happy here,” Amorim added.
