Real Madrid and France forward Kylian Mbappé has downplayed the significance of reaching 400 career goals, insisting that he is driven by far greater ambitions in football history.
As reported by Fabrizio Romano on Friday, Mbappé said, “Four hundred goals don’t impress people. I want to leave a mark on football history, so I need to score at least 400 more.”
The 26-year-old referenced the sport’s greatest goalscorers—some with more than 900 goals—arguing that hitting 400 is not enough to remain among the game’s most extraordinary talents.
“There’s one with over 950 goals, and another with more than 900. Four hundred isn’t enough to stay in the circle of players who truly shock people,” he added, underscoring his determination to reach legendary status.
Mbappé’s remarks highlight his relentless pursuit of both individual milestones and team glory as he continues his quest to cement a place among football’s all-time greats. He scored twice on Thursday as France cruised to a 4–0 win over Ukraine in a World Cup qualifier.
