Kylian Mbappé shook off his early LaLiga struggles on Sunday, scoring twice to secure Real Madrid’s 2-0 victory over Real Betis. Despite opening his account for Los Blancos in the UEFA Super Cup win against Atalanta, the Frenchman had yet to find the net in domestic play, with Madrid managing just one win in their first three matches.

The pressure was mounting as Madrid entered Sunday’s match at the Bernabeu, especially after a first half where they dominated possession but failed to break down Manuel Pellegrini’s side.

Early in the second half, Vinicius Junior nearly broke the deadlock, only for his shot to ricochet off the post. Mbappé then missed a golden opportunity, sending the rebound over the bar despite an open goal, though he was spared embarrassment by an offside flag.

Madrid’s breakthrough finally came in the 67th minute, courtesy of Mbappé. The Frenchman received a superb pass from Federico Valverde, remained composed with no defenders in sight, and calmly slotted the ball past Rui Silva, much to the delight of the home crowd.
