MCMCF Denies Church-to-Mosque Conversion Claim, Could This Escalate Religious Tensions in Plateau State?

The Mangu Concerned Muslim Consultative Forum (MCMCF) has strongly refuted claims credited to Reverend Ezekiel Dachomo, Regional Chairman of the Church of Christ in Nations (COCIN), that a church in Mangu local government area of Plateau State was burnt and converted into a mosque. The forum described the allegation as baseless and inflammatory, challenging the cleric to provide evidence to substantiate his statement.

According to MCMCF, Reverend Dachomo was quoted on December 1, 2025, by Phoenix online platform during an interview with Channels TV claiming that one of his churches in Mangu had been attacked and converted. In response, the forum’s chairman and secretary, Sheik Suleiman Haruna and MA Lawal, insisted there is no proof to support the claim and labeled it a deliberate attempt to portray Muslims as aggressors, incite hatred, and undermine ongoing peace efforts in the area.

The statement called on Reverend Dachomo to provide the official name of the church, its exact location, and the date of the alleged conversion. MCMCF emphasized that until verifiable evidence is presented, the claim remains malicious disinformation.
