On Wednesday, the Honourable Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun, joined national stakeholders in Lokoja for the official launch of the Lokoja Dialogues — a new platform designed to drive community-led solutions aimed at strengthening water security, climate resilience, and sustainable development across Nigeria.

Addressing participants, Minister Edun emphasized that water must be viewed not just as a basic necessity, but as a strategic economic asset capable of transforming livelihoods and boosting national productivity. He called for greater investment, innovation and inter-agency collaboration to improve access to clean water, enhance agricultural output, reduce climate-related vulnerabilities and support inclusive economic growth.

According to the Minister, achieving sustainable development requires empowering communities with the tools, resources, and policies that enable long-term resilience. He reaffirmed that the Federal Ministry of Finance remains committed to reforms that strengthen economic stability, uplift vulnerable populations, and unlock sustainable opportunities for Nigerians nationwide.

The Lokoja Dialogues are expected to serve as a continuous forum for policy-driven conversations, research-backed solutions, and long-term partnerships focused on Nigeria’s water and climate future.
