The Minister of Interior, Hon. (Dr.) Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, has announced a thorough and unconditional investigation into allegations of bribery and corruption within the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCOS).

Dr. Tunji-Ojo strongly condemned the alleged misconduct, asserting that any instances of indiscipline, unprofessionalism, or corruption will face zero tolerance and severe repercussions within the paramilitary services under the Ministry’s jurisdiction. “The Ministry will not tolerate any compromise on its core values of integrity, transparency, and accountability. We will leave no stone unturned in rooting out corruption and ensuring that those found culpable face the full wrath of the law,” he stated.

To oversee this investigation, the Minister has established a special panel led by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, Dr. Magdalene Ajani. This committee will investigate the allegations and submit a comprehensive report upon completion.

The panel includes notable members such as Dr. Uju Agomuoh from Prisoners’ Rehabilitation and Welfare Action (PRAWA), who will serve as Secretary; Mrs. Eva Omatese, Director of Legal at the Ministry of Interior; Mr. Usman Nasiru, Director of Joint Services at the Ministry; and Dr. Ikechukwu Ezeugo, a consultant with The Brekete Family Show.

Dr. Tunji-Ojo reassured the public that the investigation will be thorough, transparent, and impartial, with appropriate disciplinary measures enforced against any personnel found guilty of misconduct. The Minister’s firm stance reflects the government’s commitment to upholding integrity within the correctional system and restoring public trust.
