Minister of Power, Bayo Adelabu, Announces Procurement of 1.8 Million Meters to End Estimated Billing

The Honourable Minister of Power, Mr. Bayo Adelabu, has confirmed the procurement of 1.8 million electricity meters, signaling a significant step towards ending the practice of estimated billing for electricity consumers across Nigeria.

Speaking on the development, Minister Adelabu disclosed that the contract for the meters has been signed and fully paid for, with the first batch expected to arrive in December 2024. He assured that the remaining meters will be delivered by the end of the second quarter of 2025.

“With this, we believe that the days of estimated billing are gradually coming to an end,” the Minister remarked, underscoring the government’s commitment to providing more accurate billing and improving customer satisfaction in the electricity sector.

This initiative is part of broader efforts by the Federal Government to enhance transparency in electricity consumption and improve the overall power supply system.
