The Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, has committed to restoring electricity to Northern Nigeria within the next three days, addressing the region’s current power outages and recent grid failures impacting the entire country. Adelabu made this promise during a session with senators, where he provided updates on the government’s response to the persistent power challenges.

“Power will be restored to the North in two to three days. We will use the Ugwuaji-Makurdi transmission line for temporary purposes,” the minister stated, outlining immediate measures to re-establish power to the affected areas.

Adelabu explained that the ministry is collaborating with security agencies to regain control of key grid facilities currently compromised by vandals. While these efforts are underway, the Ugwuaji-Makurdi transmission line will serve as a temporary solution to stabilize electricity supply to the northern region.

Further assuring the public, Adelabu noted that full repairs to the grid infrastructure are expected to be completed within the next two weeks. “I assure you that within the next 14 days, the repairs will be completed, and power will be fully restored to the North,” he added.

This announcement follows increased concerns among northern residents and businesses facing prolonged outages, as well as a series of nationwide grid failures. Adelabu’s plan aims to alleviate immediate disruptions and establish long-term stability in the country’s power supply.
