The Minister of State for Agriculture and Food Security, Dr. Aliyu Sabi Abdullahi, has expressed profound sorrow over the terrorist attack on Kasuwan Daji communities in Borgu Local Government Area of Niger State, which claimed 42 lives on January 3, just three days into the New Year. The attack left many injured, destroyed homes, and saw an unknown number of residents, including women, children, and the elderly, abducted, disrupting the peaceful livelihoods of the affected communities.

Dr. Abdullahi described the violence as “senseless, deliberate, and murderous,” highlighting the depravity of the perpetrators. He extended his condolences to the families who lost loved ones and wished a quick recovery to those injured. The minister also praised Niger State Governor Mohammed Umar Bago for his proactive efforts to enhance security in vulnerable areas and urged the Borgu communities to remain resilient and united in the face of adversity.

Reassuring residents of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s commitment to prosecuting those responsible, Dr. Abdullahi called on communities to collaborate closely with security agencies to eliminate the threats. He emphasized that the attackers target individuals indiscriminately, regardless of religion or ethnicity, and stressed that Borgu must not become a haven for such criminal activities. The minister urged residents to draw on their age-old spirit of resilience and ensure that lawless elements do not dictate their way of life.
