The Minister of Works, Senator David Umahi, has withdrawn the services of China Harbour Engineering Company from the second carriageway of the Abuja–Mararaba–Keffi road project over non-compliance with the approved contract design and repeated disregard for directives from the Federal Ministry of Works.

The Minister, who gave the directive after a project inspection, expressed dissatisfaction with the company’s performance and adherence to technical specifications. He emphasized that the Federal Government under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda will not tolerate delays or substandard work on critical national infrastructure.

Senator Umahi announced that the Ministry will immediately mobilize local contractors to take over sections of the project, focusing on the construction of the inner and outer shoulders using reinforced concrete pavement for durability and safety.

He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to delivering quality and sustainable road infrastructure that meets global standards, stressing that the era of poor compliance and weak supervision in federal projects is over.
