The Ogun State Police Command has arrested a suspect connected to the murder of Kola Adun, a resident of River Valley Estate, Ojodu Berger. The victim’s decomposing body was discovered inside his home, prompting an immediate police response.
According to the command’s spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, the investigation began with a distress call from the Mubarak area in Akute, where residents reported an unusual stench emanating from a residence. Officers rushed to the scene at Ogunmoyero Street, River Valley Estate, where they forced entry and discovered the lifeless body of Kola Adun, lying on the first floor with visible stab wounds. Bloodstains were found at the scene, and Adun’s Toyota Camry (Reg. No. LAGOS AAA 193 GC) was missing.
The Gruesome Discovery
Odutola explained that preliminary investigations revealed the involvement of the victim’s former driver, Ayomide Oluwadamilare, aged 25. It was determined that Oluwadamilare had unlawfully entered Adun’s home on Saturday, July 5, 2025, intending to rob him. During the confrontation, the suspect fatally stabbed Adun and stole his vehicle.
The breakthrough came when Oluwadamilare attempted to sell the stolen car to a dealer in Ijede, Ikorodu. The suspicious car dealer contacted the police, which led to Oluwadamilare’s arrest at the point of sale.
Investigation Underway
Following his arrest, the remains of Kola Adun were taken to the Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital (OOUTH) in Sagamu for an autopsy. The case has since been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Abeokuta, where a thorough investigation will continue, and the suspect will face prosecution.
Ogun State Police Statement
“The quick actions of the car dealer were instrumental in ensuring the suspect’s swift arrest,” Odutola said. “We urge the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to law enforcement.”
