The National Business and Technical Examinations Board (NABTEB) has released the results for the 2024 National Business Certificate (NBC) and National Technical Certificate (NTC) examinations. The results, announced by the board’s acting registrar and chief executive, Nnasia Asanga, were disclosed at NABTEB’s headquarters in Ikpoba Hill, Benin City, Edo State.

Held between June 27 and July 31, 2024, the exams saw 67,384 candidates participating, with the results released 63 days after the last paper. Asanga revealed that 44,000 candidates, representing 65.34 percent of those who sat for the exams, obtained five credits and above, including English Language and Mathematics.

However, this year’s performance marks a decline from 2023, when 73.19 percent of candidates achieved the same feat. The 2024 results indicate a 10.76 percent drop in the pass rate compared to the previous year.

Despite the dip in overall performance, Asanga highlighted that 62,235 candidates, or 92.42 percent, secured five credits and above, with or without English Language and Mathematics. This is a marginal difference from the 2023 results, where 92.43 percent of candidates reached that benchmark.

Speaking on the timely release of results, Asanga noted that the swift processing will benefit candidates seeking admission to tertiary institutions, reinforcing NABTEB’s commitment to improving its operations and supporting Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET).

“This achievement is a testament to the management’s unwavering commitment to the advancement of education,” Asanga added.
