NBA Star Anthony Edwards Pays $1.08M Child Support in Lump Sum, Ex Calls Ruling ‘Unfair’

NBA star Anthony Edwards has made headlines after paying $1,080,000 in child support in a single lump sum, covering the next 18 years for his child. The arrangement, approved by a court, means no further adjustments can be made to the payment, regardless of any future changes in Edwards’ income.

However, his 39-year-old ex, Ayesha Howard, has criticized the decision, calling it “unfair” and claiming it leaves her without the ability to request additional support if Edwards’ earnings increase in the future. “I already used $100,000. What if it runs out before 18 years?” she told reporters, expressing frustration and blaming the judge for what she described as a betrayal.

“This is injustice to a poor woman like me. I feel betrayed,” Howard added, saying the ruling puts her in a difficult financial position despite the sizeable lump sum. The case has sparked debate over lump-sum child support agreements and whether they adequately account for changing circumstances over time.
