The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has summoned domestic airlines to a meeting in Abuja on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, over frequent flight delays, cancellations, and unresolved refund complaints.
NCAA spokesperson Michael Achimugu said the talks will cover passenger welfare, handling of unruly behavior, technology upgrades like RFID baggage tags, and better protection for crew and consumer officers.
The move follows rising complaints from travelers stranded without care, prompting the federal government to order a “naming and shaming” of non-compliant airlines. Regulations require carriers to provide hotel accommodation for passengers stranded between 10 p.m. and 4 a.m.
Achimugu warned that stricter enforcement is coming, insisting airlines must improve service to meet global standards.
