The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has announced plans to sanction social media influencers Martins Vincent Otse, known as VeryDarkMan, and Freedom Atsepoyi, known as Mr Jollof, following a physical altercation aboard a domestic flight earlier today.
The incident occurred on United Nigeria Airlines Flight UN 0523, traveling from Asaba International Airport to Lagos. Airline officials confirmed that the scuffle erupted during the flight, prompting crew members to intervene to ensure the safety of passengers and staff. Both influencers were deboarded and handed over to airport security.
In a statement, the NCAA condemned the behavior as “unacceptable” and emphasized that there is “no tolerance for unruly conduct aboard an aircraft.” The authority further stated that both individuals will “face the full strength of the law” and may be subject to sanctions, including possible blacklisting from air travel, pending the airline’s formal incident report.
The airline reiterated its zero-tolerance policy for behavior that threatens the safety or well-being of passengers and crew. The NCAA also highlighted the broader social implications, noting that both influencers have substantial followings, and stressed the need for accountability in high-profile cases.
Investigations are ongoing, and further updates are expected as the NCAA reviews the full incident report and determines appropriate disciplinary measures. Visit www.jocomms.com for more news.
