The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has intercepted a cocaine shipment bound for Gabon, arresting a freight agent and an auto parts dealer at Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Lagos.

The illicit cargo was concealed inside a brake servo, containing 48 pellets and a block of cocaine, weighing a total of 2.3 kilograms. Ameh Solomon, the freight agent who presented the package for export, was immediately taken into custody.

Following the arrest, NDLEA conducted a sting operation at the ASMPDA market in Ojo, Lagos, leading to the apprehension of Nwafor Tochukwu Boniface, an auto parts dealer linked to the shipment.

This operation is part of a larger NDLEA effort to dismantle six major drug trafficking syndicates, targeting cocaine, methamphetamine, cannabis, and other illicit substances smuggled through cargo and commercial consignments. In recent months, the agency has intercepted several shipments from South Africa and other countries, often hidden in auto parts and industrial equipment.

The NDLEA has emphasized its resolve to combat drug trafficking, particularly ahead of the festive season, while urging stakeholders in shipping and trade to remain vigilant. The arrested suspects are expected to face prosecution under Nigerian drug laws. Visit www.jocomms.com for more news.
