The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has scored significant victories in its fight against illicit drugs, arresting a suspected supplier to bandits in Niger State and uncovering a clandestine codeine syrup factory in Abia State.
In Niger State, operatives apprehended Mohammed Sani, alias “Gamboli,” at Anguwan Fadama, Kuta, Shiroro Local Government Area. Gamboli is alleged to be a key supplier of drugs to armed bandits terrorising communities across the state.
The arrest follows a previous raid on his residence in Anguwan Makera, Kuta, on 20 November, during which 471.8 kilograms of skunk, a potent form of cannabis, were seized. Gamboli had reportedly escaped that operation but was later tracked down by intelligence-led surveillance.
Meanwhile, in Abia State, NDLEA officers raided a clandestine codeine syrup production facility in Amapu Igbengwo village, Umuakpara, Osisioma Local Government Area. The raid led to the seizure of 9,015 bottles of codeine syrup, weighing approximately 1,152.2 kilograms, believed to have been manufactured illegally for distribution.
The agency confirmed that these operations are part of a nationwide effort to dismantle drug trafficking networks and illegal drug production facilities, with similar arrests and seizures reported in other states.
The NDLEA reiterated its commitment to intelligence-driven operations and urged the public to continue providing credible information to help combat drug abuse and trafficking across Nigeria. Visit www.jocomms.com for more news.
