The National Economic Council (NEC) has endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s proposal to revamp training institutions for security agencies nationwide. A committee chaired by Enugu Governor Peter Mbah will produce a one-month blueprint for the overhaul.

Chaired by Vice President Kashim Shettima, the meeting also approved an anticipatory framework to prevent riverine flooding across the 36 states and urged governors to align with President Tinubu’s growth and development targets.

NEC reviewed Nigeria’s financial accounts and received reports on progress in polio eradication, the Katsina agricultural innovation platform (KASPA), and efforts to curb crude oil theft.

The Council aims to boost crude production to 2.5 million barrels per day by the end of 2025 as part of the push toward a $1 trillion economy.
