The National Examination Council (NECO) has released the results of the 2024 Senior School Certificate Examination, just 55 days after its conclusion. NECO Registrar and Chief Executive Officer, Professor Dantani Ibrahim Wushishi, announced in Minna, Niger State, that 828,284 candidates, representing 60.55% of the 1,367,736 candidates who sat for the exam, passed with five credits or more, including English and Mathematics.

Additionally, 1,147,597 candidates recorded five credits and above, regardless of their performance in English and Mathematics.

Wushishi revealed that 8,437 candidates were involved in examination malpractice, a significant reduction compared to the 22,030 cases reported in 2023. He also highlighted that 40 schools across 17 states were caught in “Whole School (Mass) cheating.” These schools will face sanctions after a review by the Council. One school in Ekiti was recommended for de-recognition due to mass cheating in core and science subjects.

Furthermore, 21 supervisors were recommended for blacklisting for poor supervision, aiding malpractice, extortion, drunkenness, and negligence in 12 states.

A total of 1,376,423 candidates were registered for the exam, with 706,950 males, 669,473 females, and 2,267 special needs candidates. Candidates are advised to check their results on the NECO website.
