The newly appointed National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Nentawe Yilwatda, has pledged to take bold steps in repositioning the ruling party and ensuring unity among its ranks.

In his first remarks after assuming leadership, Yilwatda emphasized that his immediate priority is to unify the party and strengthen its political dominance nationwide. “My immediate priority is that the party is united,” he stated. “We will coordinate effectively to implement our manifesto to the fullest.”

Yilwatda also revealed his intent to expand the party’s influence by reaching out to members of the opposition. “I will invest in legwork to bring more governors from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and other parties into the APC,” he said, signaling a fresh wave of political realignment ahead.

A registered engineer with COREN, Yilwatda brings a diverse background to the role. He is a former university lecturer at the Federal University of Agriculture, Makurdi, and a community developer. His political experience includes serving as Resident Electoral Commissioner with INEC and, more recently, as the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, a position he held until his emergence as APC Chairman on Thursday.

A native of Plateau State, Yilwatda’s appointment marks a strategic move by the APC as it seeks to consolidate its grip on national politics and prepare for future elections under President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
