A new entrant into Nigeria’s aviation industry, K-Impex Airline Limited, has moved a step closer to commencing commercial operations with the acquisition of four Embraer 190 aircraft.

The Abuja-based carrier, which began its certification process in 2021, confirmed that the newly purchased aircraft will form the core of its initial fleet as it works toward completing the final phase of its Air Operator’s Certificate (AOC) with the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority.

Each Embraer 190 jet offers a 98-seat configuration, comprising 90 economy seats and eight business-class seats. The airline says the aircraft were selected for their fuel efficiency, reliability, and suitability for both domestic and regional routes.

Unlike many startups that rely on leased aircraft, K-Impex opted for outright purchase, calling it a strategic move to avoid long-term leasing costs and enhance financial stability.

With the acquisition completed, the airline is preparing to unveil its inaugural routes and schedules once regulatory approvals are finalized. Visit www.jocomms.com for more news.
