The Niger Delta Advancement Forum (NDAF) has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Chief Executive of the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC), Gbenga Komolafe, for what it described as the most transparent and impactful community development effort in the history of Nigeria’s oil industry.

In a statement released on Wednesday, the President of the forum, Ebiowei Timipre, praised the administration for the successful execution of 536 community development projects across oil-producing states under the Host Community Development Trust (HCDT) initiative.

Timipre described the achievement as a “turning point in the long struggle for equity, justice, and inclusion in the Niger Delta,” noting that the transparent management of host community funds has restored public confidence and strengthened collaboration between oil companies and local communities.

According to him, the implementation of the HCDT framework under the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA) has not only ensured accountability but also accelerated grassroots development across the region.

He commended President Tinubu for his political will in ensuring that the Petroleum Industry Act is fully implemented and that oil-producing communities benefit directly from the nation’s energy wealth.

The NDAF also hailed the NUPRC for its commitment to monitoring and enforcing compliance among oil operators, which it said has led to the steady completion of projects in education, healthcare, infrastructure, and livelihood support across the Niger Delta.

Timipre urged host communities to safeguard ongoing projects and sustain peaceful engagement with oil companies to consolidate the gains of the reforms initiated under the Tinubu administration.

The group reaffirmed its support for the Renewed Hope Agenda, emphasizing that the inclusive approach of the current administration represents a new chapter of progress and empowerment for the people of the Niger Delta.
