
In a significant diplomatic development, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and President Xi Jinping held a meeting on Tuesday, resulting in the signing of five Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) between Nigeria and China. The agreements, signed by Nigeria’s Minister of Budget and Planning, Atiku Bagudu, cover several areas of mutual interest.
Among the key MOUs is a cooperation plan to jointly advance the Belt and Road Initiative, aimed at enhancing infrastructure and economic connectivity between the two nations. Additionally, the agreements include cooperation in the peaceful application of nuclear energy, a move intended to foster sustainable energy development.
The MOUs also focus on strengthening human resource development under the Global Development Initiative, media exchange, and cooperation. A notable aspect of the media agreements is the collaboration between China Media Group and Nigerian Television, designed to enhance media relations and exchange.
These agreements mark a deepening of the strategic partnership between Nigeria and China, reflecting their commitment to expanding bilateral cooperation in various sectors.
