The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has debunked a viral social media post claiming to show the number of shortlisted candidates per state for the final stage of the 2025 recruitment exercise for the Superintendent Cadre.

In a public statement, the Service described the publication as false and unverified, clarifying that it did not originate from the Nigeria Customs Service or any of its authorized communication platforms. The NCS advised members of the public, particularly applicants, to disregard the misleading information in its entirety.

According to the Service, the ongoing recruitment exercise began with an official advertisement on December 27, 2024, attracting over 573,000 applications across the Superintendent, Inspectorate, and Customs Assistant cadres. After a rigorous document screening process, 286,697 candidates were shortlisted to participate in the first phase of the Computer-Based Test (CBT), conducted in batches to ensure fairness and efficiency.

The NCS explained that while all cadres participated in the initial CBT, only successful applicants under the Superintendent Cadre were invited to proceed to the second phase, which will be held across designated centres within Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones. This phase aligns with candidates’ states of origin and underscores the Service’s commitment to transparency, merit, and inclusiveness.

The Service reaffirmed that all official updates on the recruitment process are communicated through the NCS Recruitment Update Portal at updates.customs.gov.ng, warning applicants and the general public to rely solely on verified communication channels. It further urged Nigerians to desist from spreading or acting on unverified information capable of causing confusion or exploitation.

The statement reiterated that the Nigeria Customs Service remains fully committed to a free, fair, and credible recruitment process consistent with global best practices and the Federal Character principle.
