Nigeria, represented by the Honourable Minister of State for Finance, Dr. Doris Uzoka-Anite, and the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) held a high-level bilateral meeting in Washington D.C. on October 15, 2025, as part of Nigeria’s efforts under the Renewed Hope Agenda to expand economic cooperation with global development institutions. The meeting allowed both sides to review ongoing partnerships and explore new collaborative opportunities to boost Nigeria’s growth trajectories.

Key areas of discussion included Sukuk financing, Sharia-compliant funding instruments, and other innovative financial mechanisms that can support priority sectors. The dialogue built on existing cooperation in agriculture, renewable energy, infrastructure, education, healthcare, and also explored potential expansion into special agro-industrial processing zones and the halal economy. These engagements are intended to generate jobs, promote economic diversification, and enhance livelihoods across Nigeria.

Dr. Uzoka-Anite emphasized Nigeria’s resolve to reposition the economy and leverage IsDB’s expertise to fast-track development. The meeting underscored the government’s proactive diplomacy and commitment to sustainable development, signaling that strategic partnerships with institutions like the IsDB will be central to Nigeria’s long-term growth and international integration.
