Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, alongside Permanent Secretary Dr. Magdalene Ajani, attended a critical training session in Sauka yesterday for over 100 officers of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS). The training, led by the International Air Transport Association (IATA) team from Canada, focused on the implementation of the Advance Passenger Information (API) and Passenger Name Record (PNR) systems.

This initiative is part of Nigeria’s efforts to enhance traveller identification management and improve border security through the newly developed API/PNR facility and e-Gates solution. Tunji-Ojo emphasized the significance of the training, describing it as another step in ensuring optimal operation and broader border governance.
He encouraged the officers to remain dedicated to service, assuring them that the government is committed to supporting innovations that enhance national security. “The new technology places Nigeria as one of the first African countries to deploy such sophisticated solutions,” Tunji-Ojo said. “This government will continue to innovate and provide Nigerians with the best solutions.”
The training follows Nigeria’s recent successful import ceremony of its Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) and Public Key Directory (PKD) in Canada, further strengthening the country’s border management and security.
