The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), in collaboration with the Government of the Netherlands, has successfully concluded a three-day Hostmanship training and certification program for its officers. This initiative aimed to enhance the skills and professionalism of NIS officers, focusing on improving service delivery and operational excellence.
The training received positive feedback from participants. More than 150 officers were initially selected from various NIS Commands and Formations across Nigeria. After rigorous scrutiny by the Dutch team, nine officers were chosen to undergo extensive training and evaluation in the Netherlands, where they will become Certified Hostmanship Trainers.

At the closing ceremony, Comptroller General KN Nandap, PCC, MMIS, FSM, expressed gratitude to the Government of the Netherlands for their support and partnership. She encouraged the selected officers to serve as good ambassadors of the NIS and to prioritize Hostmanship, emphasizing its importance as gatekeepers and the first point of contact for travelers entering and exiting the country.
The training is vital for the NIS, given its statutory responsibilities, which involve regular interaction with a diverse audience. The introduction of Hostmanship as a core value underscores its importance in fulfilling the Service’s mission effectively.
The event was coordinated by DCI KT Udo, the Service Public Relations Officer, and took place at the NIS Headquarters in Abuja on August 22, 2024.
