The funding covers security scanners, air traffic systems, runway and terminal rehabilitation, and other critical infrastructure at key airports nationwide. Officials say the investments aim to enhance safety, efficiency, and compliance with international aviation standards.

A major portion of the funding ₦712 billion is allocated for the full rehabilitation and modernization of Terminal One at Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, including upgrades to supporting facilities and security systems.

Government authorities note that the spending reflects a move towards long-term infrastructure renewal, improving passenger experience and strengthening Nigeria’s position as a regional aviation hub.
