Nigeria Launches Faster T+2 Settlement Cycle, Speeding Up Investor Payouts

Share

Nigeria has officially moved its capital-market settlement cycle from T+3 to T+2, allowing investors to receive funds and securities two business days after trades are executed.

The change, implemented by the Central Securities Clearing System (CSCS) on November 28, 2025, follows SEC approval and extensive market-wide testing.

With T+2 now in effect, investors enjoy quicker access to cash, reduced counterparty risk, and smoother trade processing. The reform also brings Nigeria in line with global markets and is expected to boost confidence and trading activity.

Regulators say the upgrade marks a key step in modernizing the market’s infrastructure, with more efficiency-focused reforms expected in the future. Visit www.jocomms.com for more news.
