Nigeria on Sunday marked its 65th Independence Anniversary with an Inter-Denominational Church Service at the National Christian Centre, Abuja, emphasizing unity as the cornerstone of national progress.

The event, held under the theme “The Power of Unity in Building a Great Nation”, brought together leaders from government, the private sector, and civil society. Among the dignitaries present were the Senate President, Distinguished Senator Godswill Akpabio, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, and the Honourable Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr. Wale Edun. Edun delivered a Bible reading that underscored perseverance and shared responsibility, a message closely aligned with Nigeria’s ongoing economic renewal efforts.

Speakers at the service stressed that national unity is not only vital for social cohesion but also for economic transformation. They noted that a stable and united Nigeria creates the enabling environment for private enterprise to thrive, for investors to commit long term capital, and for industries to expand and generate employment opportunities.

As the nation looks beyond its 65th year of independence, the call was clear: unity must remain the foundation on which lasting economic growth and sustainable prosperity are built.
