Nigeria has presented Africa’s first Five Year AfCFTA Implementation Review at the Ministerial Roundtable on the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA). The report showcases the country’s progress in implementing the agreement and offers practical recommendations that can serve as a guide for other African nations.
The review assesses key sectors such as manufacturing, agriculture, digital trade and services, while also stressing the need to align trade strategies with infrastructure development. It emphasizes the importance of expanding intra African trade, strengthening supply chains and boosting competitiveness across the continent.
Minister of Trade and Investment, Dr. Jumoke Oduwole, urged African ministers to share strategies that will accelerate AfCFTA’s goals. She highlighted the need for collaboration to overcome barriers such as non tariff restrictions and logistics challenges, while underscoring the importance of inclusivity by ensuring the active participation of women and youth in continental trade.
