The Midstream and Downstream Gas Infrastructure Fund (MDGIF) has reached an agreement with Endurance Group, a major Chinese manufacturer, to roll out 500 Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) refuelling stations across Nigeria within the next three years. The partners will establish a government backed Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) known as the Compressed Natural Gas Auto Mobility Infrastructure Company (CAM InfraCo), jointly promoted by MDGIF, the Bank of Industry, Endurance Group, and Séquor Investment Partners.
According to MDGIF Executive Director, Mr. Oluwole Adama, the project is designed to close critical gaps in Nigeria’s CNG value chain by deploying integrated refuelling stations, developing LCNG supply systems, and providing transportation trucks for a nationwide virtual gas pipeline network. He said the initiative will help eliminate long queues at existing CNG stations by improving access, efficiency, and distribution across all states.
Senior Special Adviser to the President on Special Duties and Domestic Affairs, Mr. Oluwatoyin Subair, noted that the project aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s vision to strengthen energy security and accelerate the adoption of auto CNG as a cleaner and cheaper alternative to petrol and diesel. Eric Lin, CEO of Endurance Group, added that the SPV will build a commercially sustainable CNG infrastructure ecosystem by leasing equipment to certified operators and ensuring reliable gas supply through a world class logistics and pipeline network.
